 Recipe of the Day :  

 

Apple Pie

margarine---------45ml (3 tbsp)
castor sugar------250ml (1 cup)
eggs-----------------2 extra large
cake flour-----------250ml (1 cup)
baking powder----5ml
tbsp)
salt--------------------2.5ml (1/2 tsp)
milk-------------------60ml (1/4 cup)
pie apples----------1 385g can 
(instead of using pie apples can take a medium or large apple peel it and slice it then take a cup of water and boil apple in it until it is tender and use this instead of pie apples.)
 

Topping
sugar------------------250ml
cream-----------------250ml
vanilla essence-----5ml

Method:

  • Pre heat oven to 180oC

  • Grease a 22cm spring form or loose bottom bottomed cake tin. 

  • Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.

  • Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and fold into the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.

  • Spoon the batter into the prepared cake tin and arrange the apples on  top.

  • Bake for 30-40 minutes

  • While the tart is baking, bring the cream and sugar to boil and simmer gently for 5 minutes.

  • Pour over the tart as soon as it comes out of the oven.
